Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
